To My Best Friend Graduating College

Updated: Oct 17, 2019

Congratulations! You have made it through college, and are finally off to explore the real world.

I can’t believe that next year you won’t be by my side every step of the way.

Who am I going to have call to make sure I am up for that 8am exam? Who’s going to be up for 11pm drives around town just to talk? Who else is going to drive around scary wooded areas, and end up at some sort of ski / sledding place with a giant hill with me?

It’s crazy all that we’ve been through in such a short amount of time. We’ve failed tests, gotten through biochemistry, cried, had broken hearts, and gotten through a spider attack at Erberts and Gerberts. These countless memories are ones that I’ll never forget.

I honestly don’t know how I am going to get through my senior year of college without you. Although you won’t be by my side next year, I cannot wait to hear about your amazing life after college.

I cannot wait for the day that you call me to tell me that the man of your dreams popped the question and that you will soon be getting married. Or the day that I get married, and you are one of the bridesmaids standing next to me on that special day.

I can only imagine when you finally have a little one running around your house… I hope that I can be the fun “aunt” (second to your sister of course) that gets to come visit every once in awhile.

I wish you nothing but the best for your future. I know you may not want to come back and visit too often, but I hope that you will come back for a few things… My birthday, if I ever find a boyfriend (need your approval), and the day that I graduate are just a few days I hope to see you back.

They say you make friendships that will last a lifetime in college, and I am so thankful that you were one of those friends.

When May comes I will be there to celebrate all of your accomplishments… I will be happy for you, but be prepared for tears. Knowing that you won’t be here next year tears me apart. Although you won’t be around all of the time, I will always hope the best for your future, and cannot wait to see all that you accomplish. Our meeting may have started off randomly, but there is not a doubt in my mind that you were meant to be in my life.
